    Powerhouse Operator (Maldivian)

    Veligandu Island Resort, surrounded by a beautiful lagoon, an excellent house reef and long stretches of white, sandy beach, is the only resort on the island of Veligandu, North Ari Atoll. It is 600 meters long by 150 meters wide, about 22 acres. Your seaplane transfer from Velana International Airport is a scenic, 20-minute flight. The 91 rooms include 54 Jacuzzi Water Villas, 10 Water Villas, 16 Jacuzzi Beach Villas and 11 Beach Villas. Veligandu will accommodate guests of all ages in the Beach Villas & Jacuzzi Beach Villas and only guests of age 12 years and above in Water Villas & Jacuzzi Water Villas.

    Your Responsibilities:

    • To be responsible for the completion of all duties and works given to them by the Supervisor and Engineering Management in a correct and safe manner at all times and to ensure standard of work are adhere to and in compliance with Management instructions and Resort Requirements to ensure all work projects are completed to set times and proper use of correct materials in a professional manner.
    • To be responsible for proper hand over to any incoming shift operative in their section, any unfinished repairs that due to lack of time have not been completed.
    • In the event of a repair/s being beyond the expertise of the Powerhouse Duty Man, the fault should immediately be reported to the Supervisor and/or Engineering Management after first ensuring that any un-repaired fault likely to cause an accident or health hazard is isolated and that such equipment is left in a completely safe condition with any appropriate warning notices attached.
    • To be responsible for the operation and maintenance which would normally falls within the  scope of works for all hotel Power Plant, Boilers, Desalination Plants, pumping systems, sewage treatment plants and swimming pool plant rooms and structures for which they are given work orders including compliance with all maintenance scheduling set or approved by engineering management and noting required unreported repairs of any kind and reporting these faults to the engineering office and ensure that work orders are generated.
    • Responsible that they answer all work orders and radio calls promptly with minimum delay
    • Ensuring that all work orders issued to them are filled in correctly and returned to the engineering office at the end of each day so that records of work done can be kept.
    • To be responsible for the keeping clean and tidy of all areas they have worked in during their shift hours.
    • To be responsible for noting any and all items used by themselves during their working hours and recording these items on the appropriate forms by the end of each shift.
    • Responsible for reporting all potential hazards while on duty to senior management.
    • To co-operate with and assist hotel management as and when required.
    • To be responsible for maintaining a brief & accurate record of the day’s activities in any relevant log books.
    • To assist in the proper training of other staff members as may be required
    • To ensure that any supplied uniform is clean and in good repair especially before entering any guest areas
    • To be responsible that they with all Health & Safety Precautions whilst at work with particular regard to the current use of equipment and materials.
    • To undergo any training deemed necessary by the Hotel Engineer.
    • To be responsible for assisting other maintenance personnel as may be required and for carrying out any other engineering duties as may be required by the Hotel engineering management and according to the needs of the department
    • To follow all fire and evacuation and other emergency procedures.
    • Reference to abide with the Company’s Code of Conduct
    • To ensure that any materials the supervisors require for maintenance or repair are requested in sufficient time for material purchases to be processed in a normal manner.
    • To undertake any new installation/overhauling works as may be directed by engineering or hotel management.

    Our Requirements:

    • At least 2 years work experience in the same filed and experience of Machinery, welding, boilers, pumps, desalination and sewage treatment plants preferred.
    • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High School diploma preferred.
    • Fire and Safety and Basic First Aid Certificate is required.
