Pastry Chef

We are looking for a Pastry Chef who supports the Executive Head Chef in Directing and organizing the activities of the Food Production Department in Pastry and Bakery, which includes a variety of responsibilities such as establishing and maintaining the required culinary standards.

Meeru Island is located in North Male’ Atoll accessible via boat from the International Airport. The island features 284 rooms, four large F&B outlets, extensive water sports, diving facilities as well as a large fleet of vessels. This beautiful island was one of the first resorts in the Maldives and offers a vibrant and rich heritage; it is Simply Maldives.

You’re Responsibilities:

• In charge of the Pastry and Bakery kitchens.
• Overlooking the kitchens with regards to pastry and bakery production.
• Is accountable for the guest comment scores in the dining outlets.
• Inspect all the coolers and freezers in all the pastry and bakery sections, ensuring that the storage procedures are being followed at all times.
• Ensure that all staff are following the relevant sanitation requirements and any issues are dealt with immediately, in line with Meeru HACCP procedures.
• Taste/ sample all food in the pastry and bakery BEFORE the start of each service to ensure a consistent product.
• Ensure that the pastry and bakery kitchen team is working in a safe, efficient and productive manner and ensure an adequate physical working environment.

Our Requirements:

• Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• At least five years previous experience the same role in a similar environment required.
• Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, and to communicate with colleagues.
• First Aid Training, Fire Safety Training, Heath and Kitchen Safety Training preferred
