Assistant Financial Controller – Department Head

We are looking for a talented, self-efficient candidate with extensive experience to support and lead the Finance Department at Komandoo Island Resort & Spa, Maldives. This is a department head position, requiring the ability to independently perform Financial Controller functions and ensure strong financial governance of the resort.

Main Responsibilities:

• Assists the Financial Controller in overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting functions of the resort.

• Independently performs Financial Controller duties in the absence of the Financial Controller, ensuring continuity of financial operations.

• Ensures accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.

• Monitors cash flow, working capital, and cost controls, ensuring effective financial management of resort operations.

• Reviews and controls revenue, expenses, payroll, inventories, and fixed assets to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Oversees internal controls, audits, and financial procedures to safeguard company assets.

• Coordinates with department heads to analyze financial performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.

• Manages statutory requirements, tax compliance, and liaison with external auditors and regulatory authorities.

• Supports system integrity, financial software performance, and data accuracy within accounting and reporting systems.

• Leads, trains, and develops the finance team to improve departmental efficiency and performance.

Requirements:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (professional accounting qualification preferred).

• Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate financial reports using accounting systems.

• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the hospitality industry or resort operations.

• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and internal audit processes.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work closely with senior management and department heads.

• Ability to work independently, demonstrate leadership, and handle department head responsibilities in a remote island environment.
