    Assistant Chief Engineer

    We are looking for a Assistant Chief Engineer who is enthusiastic and with great attitude to be responsible for managing the operations and delivering an excellent guest experience.

    Kagi Maldives Resort & Spa is a charming, unpretentious island for those seeking the natural connection between wellness and relaxation. The resort features 50 villas with 3 Restaurants and 1 bar ,located at the tip of North Male’, which is 60 minutes away from Velana International Airport by speedboat.

    MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    General

    • Assist Chief Engineer in the administration of the department by preparing and maintaining schedules, logs, records and other documentation to ensure a smooth, organized operation and minimize liabilities
    • Make recommendations to the reporting manager for modernization of equipment to improve guest satisfaction, optimizing costs and operating more efficiently
    • Support all co-workers and treat them with dignity and respect, develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments
    • Assist in preparing annual plans, forecasts and manage expenses to meet departmental budgetary goals, assist in the preparation of the annual budget

    Departmental

    • Assist Chief Engineer in installation and maintenance of the resort’s architectural,
      mechanical and electrical systems
    • Prioritize service requests, schedule and monitor the service performed to ensure guests’ satisfaction, safety and convenience
    • Report any serious maintenance problems, unusual findings or safety hazards immediately
      to the reporting manager
    • Identify, locate and operate all safety systems devices, isolating mechanisms,
      shut-off valves for equipment
    • Assist in reviewing purchase requests and monitor expenses budget to ensure goals are met
    • Maintain daily logs of operation, maintenance and safety activities, including test results, instrument readings and details of equipment malfunctions and maintenance work
    • Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and/or report them to the reporting manager and security personnel
    • Perform miscellaneous minor repairs such as tightening loose toilet seats, changing light bulbs, and patching holes in walls, perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication as assigned by the Chief Engineer or General Manager

     

    QUALIFICATION

    Work experience

    • Minimum 2 years’ proven experience in a similar role in a luxury boutique hotel
    • Good knowledge of electrical systems, components and devices, HVAC systems, boilers, mechanical systems and the maintenance and repair of all
    • Good knowledge of public construction and building systems, all related permits, licensing, new existing codes pertaining to public building and fire safety will be considered an asset
    • Good understanding of resort operations in a remote location will be considered an asset

    Technical knowhow

    • Skilled in the proper and safe use of all tools, equipment, materials, chemicals and products relating to resort maintenance operations

    • Willingness to replenish professional knowledge

    Education

    • High School diploma or equivalent will be considered an asset
    • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
    • Good computer skills, e.g. e-mails for effective communication, writing and editing in Microsoft Word or Google Docs, searching for information with Google will be considered an asset

    License or Certificates
